Michael Jolin, CFA, is Vice President and Portfolio Manager for the International Value Fund.
Jolin has extensive experience in international equity research. He joined Heartland in 2008 as a Research Analyst and was named to the International Value Fund Team at its inception in 2010. He became a Portfolio Manager for the Fund after rejoining the firm in May 2015. This followed a year as Co–Portfolio Manager of the International Small Cap Value Strategy at the investment advisory firm DePrince, Race & Zollo in Winter Park, Florida.
Previously, Jolin spent five years at Banc One Investment Advisors in Columbus, Ohio. He held several positions, but was an Associate Analyst at the time of his departure. In this role, he researched REITs, telecommunication services, and telecommunication equipment investment companies for the Diversified Strategies Team. He recommended stocks for five portfolios, which collectively had more than $5 billion under management.
He gained formal education in security analysis by completing the Masters of Business Administration in Applied Securities Analysis Program at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2008. His bachelor’s in finance was earned at Wright State University in 1998.
Jolin also has taught as an Adjunct Professor of International Investments at the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee.
